Quilted Table Runner

Created On: August 29, 2010  |  Updated: August 29, 2010  |   1 Comment

I loved this month’s project over at U-Create. It is a quilted table runner, and you quilt the project as you sew it together! You can find the directions to make your own over at Diary of a Quilter.

The original version uses randomly-sized strips, in pretty pastel colors. I don’t have many pastels in my stash, so I went to my scrap bins.

I keep 3 scrap bins – one of 2″ strips, one of 3″ squares, and a last big bin of scraps that need to be cut down to go in one of the two other bins. I’d love to have more selection, but I really don’t have enough scraps to justify it, or enough space to handle bins with more sizes!

Out of my 2″ strip bin, I pulled my Christmas Fabrics. I decided to pull only fabrics that had a combination of red/white/gold/tan going on in them. Although I love the random look achieved over at Diary of a Quilter by using random size strips as well as a random layout, I think I’ve got the random look covered by randomizing the order of the strips.

The whole thing has been bound, and now that I’ve taken a couple photos, it has been tucked away… ready to make an appearance in December! Just one more reason for me to look forward to the holidays (as if I needed any more reasons)!

Always,
