Red Week – Bag or Box, you decide!

Created On: February 11, 2011  |  Updated: February 11, 2011  |   1 Comment

So, have you voted for a favorite over at So You Think You’re Crafty? I don’t know how Missy manages to put together such a great collection of crafty divas, season after season! Luckily, I’m not trying to compete, but I AM having fun sharing RED WEEK with all of her blog readers. : )

On to today’s craft! Just one day left… and maybe a little surprise in there…

This little container is super easy to make… what is harder is deciding if it is a box or a bag.

The good news is that it doesn’t really matter, it is perfect for holding treats… like a handful of animal crackers… or to wrap up a gift.

Start with 2 10″x10″ squares of fabric, and a square of interfacing at least 5.5″x5.5″

Iron the interfacing square to the middle of one of your fabric squares, on the wrong side of the fabric. Stitch the two large squares right sides together, leaving a hole for turning.

Turn right side out, poke out the corners, and top-stitch all the way around.

Using a water-soluble fabric marker, measure in 4.5″ from each corner, and draw a line.

Top stitch the inner square.

Mark a .5″ line, .5″ from each corner. Stitch a buttonhole on each line. Don’t be afraid of buttonholes… they are super easy! : )

Fold in half, and stitch along the short diagonal corners (where the pins are in the picture).

Flip and stitch the other corners, and you’ll have something that looks like this:

Turn it right side out, and thread a ribbon through the buttonholes.

Fill the center with a fun treat, and you’re all set!

Always,
C. Moore
