I designed this Flying Pig Quilt Block as part of this month’s theme, “Up in the Air.” I have a group of friends with exceptional kiddos who defy the odds every day. Early on, this mom group adopted the mascot of the flying pig – a creature that many believe is mythical, but they see as defying the odds every day.

For me, the Pig with wings takes on a little different meaning as well. When I was a child, we had a children’s book about a pig born with wings. He didn’t fit in with the pigs. He didn’t fit in with the birds. He went through some tough times… but eventually was able to find a safe place where he was loved. I don’t recall the name of the book, and there are so many fun children’s books with flying pigs as the main character… I’m sure this darling flying pig block would be perfect for anyone who has love for a story about a pig with wings.

this is so cute. I lived on a farm and saved a runt piglet. he was so special and he thought he was a human. LOL he felt safe in the bulls pen. he went to the bus stop with our two dogs to drop us off and to pick us up. thank you so much for sharing your pattern.
Oh my goodness, that is the best story! Thanks for sharing!
