Good Vibes Quilt

Created On: June 23, 2012  |  Updated: June 23, 2012  |   3 Comments

Back in January, I signed up for the “Charming Solids” club at Pink Chalk Fabrics. My goal was to get beautiful, inspiring fabrics in the mail every month, and then make a quilt out of each set before the next set arrived. You might remember my first quilt made with the monthly fabric – the Strip Tease quilt.

It is now June, so I should have finished my 5th quilt as part of this plan, and gotten fabric for my 6th. Well… half of that is true. I have gotten 6 amazing sets of fabric… but this is only my second finished quilt top. I present to you: Good Vibes. Made with 2 charm packs of Kate Spain’s “Good Fortune” line, some beautiful solids, and some extra yardage of the grey dragonfly fabric from the line.

I divided up the fabrics, making half square triangles. Each is either a charm-solid or charm-dragonfly combination. These were then put together to make a vertical chevron or zig-zag pattern in color groupings. The result is a fun fractured-chevron pattern. This quilt top is clearly “toddler approved!”

If you follow me on instagram, you’ve seen some progress shots of this quilt. Not only did life throw me a few curveballs, making this project take longer than I’d hoped… but this sucker has ONE HUNDRED SIXTY EIGHT half square triangles. That’s a whole lot of marking, sewing, cutting, pressing, and squaring up!

Finally finished with this one, my new goal is to get caught up on these quilts by December. I’ve already got the third started… with prairie points! Woot! I think it is going to be called “Prairie Air” Hopefully I’ll have a completed top to show to you soon! And eventually… I’ll need to get all these quilt tops quilted! And bound!! Yikes…
