My family loves playing board games and card games. Though, we have a few that we come back to again and again. We like Settlers of Catan. Exploding Kittens. And Shanghai. However, when I was growing up, my dad always had a chessboard out. He would play anyone who asked. He read books about chess, and followed along on famous games. He’d go to the library to play chess with others. And I will always remember seeing that chess board sitting by his favorite reading chair.
So when the theme for this month came up as “Games,” I had to design these chess pieces. A King and Queen. And I know there will be some folks who think that the Queen unit should be slightly shorter than the King unit. if that’s you, you can shorten the tall stem piece in the center and add to the background above the queen unit to make her shorter. But, I wanted a tall queen, so that’s how I designed it.
