Free Donut Quilt Block Pattern

Created On: October 1, 2024  |  Updated: September 30, 2024  |   3 Comments

I’m so excited to share this fun and free donut quilt block! Donuts are absolutely a sweet that we love at my house! I’ve even tried making donuts from scratch, but they were not quite as good as our local donut shop, and they take a lot of time! While this quilt block does have some tiny piecing, you could probably whip up this block faster than you could whip up a batch of scratch-made donuts!

The secret to getting this block to look perfect is to pick the right fabric for your frosting. Here, I chose a pink with polka-dot sprinkles, but you could use a lighter donut fabric, and a dark chocolate frosting (or a vanilla frosting)! Or you could pick your favorite color for the frosting… though I’m really partial to polka-dot sprinkle fabric!

Great uses for the Donut Quilt Block

Make as many of these donut blocks as you like for an entire donut quilt! and you can make each a different “flavor” if you like by using different colors for your donut fabric and your frosting fabric.

This donut quilt block is the perfect quilt block for so many different projects. A donut quilt would be a great quilt for a police officer retiring (or a new cadet graduating from the police academy). It might also be great for the admin who always brings the donuts to work on Mondays, Fridays, or all the days! And it is a fun quilt block for any program that has used D.O.N.U.T or D.O.N.U.T.S as an acronym for something else.

Combine this quilt block with a money-themed border fabric for the perfect quilty representation of “From Dollars to Donuts.” Or, perhaps you have a friend who jokingly refers to others as a “doughnut” and might need this quilt!

Whether you spell it donut or doughnut, this is a darling quilt block that is sure to make you hungry for a sweet treat!
