I’m so excited to share this owl quilt block with you! Owls are such fun birds, and I had a great time designing this block! This owl is tucked in a hollow in a tree trunk, making it an easy and fun block to add to any forest or woodland-themed quilt! The Owl quilt block does have some tiny piecing to put it together – it looks very basic from the sketch, but to get these simple shapes with basic piecing, we do have to do some creative stitching.
You will have fun picking out the colors for this quilt. There are four different browns. The owl uses three brown prints, and the tree uses a fourth. You can use solid fabrics to piece the quilt block, or you can pick fabrics with some texture. Look for bark texture for the outside, and feather texture for the owl’s three brown fabrics.
The Owl Quilt Block is free for anyone on my email list. I offer a free monthly quilt block to my subscribers, access to all the past monthly quilt blocks, free patterns, news, updates, sales, and more! Make sure you sign up, and that you share this with friends!
