Welcome Baby

Created On: April 21, 2010  |  Updated: April 21, 2010  |   6 Comments

When I saw this week’s Just Us Girls color challenge, I immediately thought of the card I wanted to make for my brother and his wife’s new baby girl (that’s right ladies, I’m a Tante!). But… part 2 of the challenge said that the card should be a birthday card… but a new baby card is kind of like a birthday card… it is a card for the day of birth… right?

Then I saw this week’s Inchie Inklings sketch, and it was decided. I was making a card for my new niece.

I got my supplies together…

– pink zig marker
– Fiskars scalloped scissors
– “Baby Things” Stamp from All Night Media
– Green and yellow Mat paper
– Purple & white cardstock
– Pink paper with cute dots (this is from the Creative Memories Romance Pack)
– Mounting squares
– Plastic Grid

I used the marker to ink in the part of the stamp I wanted, and stamped it on the white cardstock. It took a couple tries with each image to get the look I wanted.

Once I had a good image, I cut a 1″ piece of plastic grid from a plastic grid sheet (bought at JoAnn’s), centered up my image, traced with a pencil, and cut out the image. Once the images were cut out, I erased my pencil lines.

I used mounting squares to put my inchie squares on the green mat, cut the pink paper to size, and then used my Cricut to cut a 1 1/4″ label. I used the “bold” of the same pattern on the yellow cardstock as a background.

It still looked plain, so I added a scalloped border cut with Fiskars scallop scissors. I used plain ol’ DMC embroidery floss to tie up my tag, and the same marker I had used for stamping to write my sentiment.

I hope you enjoy it… and I especially hope that my niece and her new parents like it!

Moore to come later…

Love the way you used selective inking to get the images off the bigger stamp – cute card and congrats on becoming an aunty!
