I have been avoiding doing a Dresden Plate quilt. Yes, they are beautiful, but too traditional and far too much work for my taste.
Until now.
The Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild is having a challenge! Yay! I love challenges! It is a Dresden Plate challenge. Not only does it challenge me to tackle this quilt, but their launch has challenged all my preconcieved notions about the Dresden Plate Quilt block. It turns out that with this EZ ruler, it isn’t nearly as fussy as I thought. AND their launch posts have shown me that there are so many ways to dresden that are far from fussy and traditional. YAY!
I ordered the ruler earlier this week, and after it came in today, I had to audition some fabrics from my stash… Here is where I am so far. I’m looking for masculine prints that will be fun to cut into wedges.

This looks like an interesting combo! Whenever I use plaids, stripes, geometrics like dots, the results are a good surprise.

Ok, I don’t know a thing about quilting, but I love the fabrics and colors you have picked out for this. Looking forward to seeing your Dresden.
